Explore standing waves across multiple dimensions. Adjust frequency, amplitude, waveform, and medium to see how resonance patterns form.
Visualizations
1D Tube: Standing waves with nodes & antinodes
2D Plate: Chladni patterns (vibrating plate)
3D Sphere: Spherical harmonics (electron orbitals)
4D Hyper: Hypersphere rotating through 4th dimension
Waveforms
Sine: Pure tone, fundamental only
Square: Rich in odd harmonics (1, 3, 5...)
Triangle: Softer odd harmonics
Sawtooth: All harmonics present
The Science
When waves reflect and interfere, they create standing patterns with fixed nodes (no motion) and antinodes (maximum motion). The patterns you see in 3D mode are spherical harmonics—the same mathematics that describes electron orbitals, gravitational fields, and cosmic microwave background fluctuations.
